When I first learned about Marky Cielo’s passing, it came as a shock to me as if my whole world came crumbling down.

It was indeed a very tragic day for me – I was crying the whole day.

How can a very promising guy, full of life and energy, be taken away from us at a very young age? Such silly question to ask the Lord but it’s what on my mind during those times. It was really a hard time, a phase in my life that I could describe as nothing but depressing and complete denial. But in all of the chaos, that reality struck me, that indeed Marky had gone back to HIS creator.

December 2008 was a very traumatic month for me, dealing with my husband’s 2nd year in Iraq and with the recent demise of Boknoy, proves too much for me to bear.  I was crying all day, all night…need to say I was diagnosed as being depressed.

Then I found some relief online through igma.tv/forums.

I found new friends, people who share the same admiration and love for Boknoy. We chatted almost everyday, 24/7 na iyakan minsan (hehe!) and it’s also in that forum that the idea for a tribute for Marky was conceptualized… a star in the universe – a live, flaming hot star to be named after Marky Cielo.

My newly found friends were able to put in their own ideas, chatting away the night.  Even with the different time zones, it didn’t matter at all…cause we only have one agenda: getting a tribute for Marky.
A tribute fitted for a king…so I searched online where to find a site that sells the right to purchase a star and have the authority to name a star for someone.

So I did found it and again, time for chat session, to ask the group what we should name it after. We settled with Marky’s whole name coz it’s his real name and we just thought it’s the best since his nick name won’t be as unique as his real name. Then we had to do decision again, what star should we buy…in short…what location?

I first thought about the constellation Taurus since it’s his birth sign, but Taurus is only visible during the month of mid April to May.  And lots of times, it’s not visible at all especially in the northern region where Philippines is located due to the weather.  So I did some research again and found two possible constellations…Ursa Major better known as big dipper and the Orion known also as The Great Hunter.

But further more researched prove that although Orion was visible all throughout the world, but  its visibility in the northern region is only limited to the months of November to February during the winter time which Philippines doesn’t have.

So that makes me chose Ursa Major or the Big dipper which can be seen all year round especially in the northern region.

Then I had to ask messages from Tita Mildred and Tito Bobby to be printed in the certificate and also to be included in the capsule that will be sent out with the satellite to orbit the earth. The main objective of the messages in the capsule is that, it will be thrown out in the outer space.  Out where no man has ever been…out where the infinity of the universe spread across that only we can imagine…out goes our hope that Bokz might be able to read our messages..

Then came May 12 2009…

It was the 21st birthday of our Boknoy. The time supposedly in which a boy will now be called a man. And what better time than his birthday to hand over the certificate to his beloved mother, Tita Mildred? Though all emotional at the time handing over the certificate to Tita Mildred, I was able to hold back tears, knowing and seeing that Bokz was there, watching us with so much pride and joy.

And with the Tropang Noinois cheering me on…why the tears? We are there to celebrate the life of an extraordinary man, to reminisce all the times and the moments we have with him, to share the memories and comfort each other for the time that some hasn’t been able to go through acceptance phase yet – like me.

But I know in due time, it will come…
No rush on my side…

For it still give me so much joy watching his videos and tv shows online, that the thought of him gone has never crossed my mind ever since I came back. I just keep trying to convince myself that Bokz has gone to a place that we can’t go yet…a place not everybody has the right to go…only a few, privileged ones.  And I know that our angel Marky has already made it his home.

Buying the star doesn’t mean that it’s done…that we got a tribute for Bokz, that’s it…no way!

The star serves as a reminder of how a very young man from the Igorot descendants came to conquer the television and the hearts of those who truly admire what a real talent is.

The star serves as our beacon from up above.

The star – the symbol of our undying love for Marky Cielo.

The star that is shining from up above, knowing that Bokz is looking down upon us thru his star, will remind me that once in my life I came to know and love a boy named Marky Cielo.

hello Noinois…..thank You For Sharing Marky With Us… Your Memories With Him….in Pictures….in Video Clips…with Your Intimate Stories….about Him….i Think Without You Guys…we Will Never Get To Know Marky As Much As We Do Now….and We Will Never Get To See/know Him As Tho We Are There With U….thru Those Precious Pix And Clips With Him….that U Have Shared Unselfishly(u Guys Are Just Like Marky)…to Think That U Have Spent Time….energy And Money…just To Do It….i Know Ur Love For Marky Cud Not Be Measured With These Things….but Still For Over 2 Yrs. You Have Shared Your Life With Him….and Those Precious Memories Are Priceless….and Will Be In Your Hearts….for The Rest Of Your Lives….

Meeting place: Gateway
Time: 1pm
Attendance:  Manny, Ate Evie, Ate Gem, Jon, Joemar, Ate Wenz, Aling Trining, Becky, Cherrie, Lovely (w/ her supportive bf), at ang newbie na si Aries. may nakalimutan ba ako? Sayang lang kase konti ang nakapunta, may mga prior commitments kase yung iba, while the others naman e meron inevitable matters na dapat asikasuhin.

First of all, thanks Ate Beng for the padala, sa chocolates (inupakan agad ng mga noinois,hehehe. . ) at sa pabango at lotion (babango na din ang mga noinois, lalambot pa ang mga balat,haha. .  .). thanks ulit.

Meron 3 things na pinagusapan kanina sa meeting at ito yung mga yun:

1st:  magkakaroon tayo ng other form of bonding aside from our monthly meetings sa gateway. isa sa mga napagkasunduan ay ang paglalaro ng badminton (para makapagpawis naman tayo lalo na yung mga mejo tumataba -kasama na ko dun,haha. . . ) ang na set na date for us to play ay sa June 20 – saturday, 2pm sa amoranto stadium. wait na lang kayo for further announcements. sana madaming makasama kase ibang bonding naman ito for us noinois, at for sure masaya din ito. . .

2nd:  nag post evaluation din kame regarding sa charity natin sa bauko para makita natin kung anu ang dapat iimprove , kung anu yung mga lapses, at other concerns. Nagprovide si ate gem ng tally sheet kung saan meron mga criteria na ire-rate from excellent to poor. Base sa outcome ng pagtatally ni ate gem, lumalabas na ang over all assessment of the event is very good naman (I think we all agree naman,hehe. . ). Ganun din ang result sa accommodation dun sa hotel, mababa lang yung rate sa staff kase nagkaroon ng confusion dun sa pagseserve ng mga inorder naming na food (remember , almost an hour kame naghintay para iserve yung food naming). Pero never the less, accommodating parin naman sila. Meron din ilang comments and recommendations na ini-note down like sana lahat mag participate sa mga meetings. Important din kase na well informed lahat at nakakapag contribute din ng mga inputs.

3rd: pinagusapan din yung next charity project natin. This time naman, ang Dar Amanah Children’s Village na nagke-cater sa mga young muslims naman ang babahagingan natin ng mga blessings natin at iintroduce natin si marky sa kanila. Ang napagkasunduan ay itri-treat natin sila sa nearest fast food (either jolibee or mcdo). Nagset din ng date on August 9  kung kaylan tayo pupunta dun to inspect the institution and to find out na din kung anu yung mga basic at necessary needs nung mga batang muslims. Ito na din yung chance to have a first hand experience na makapaginteract tayo with muslim kids bago yung charity natin with them. Siguro i-advice ko na din kayo to make a research sa tradition at customs nila since hindi sila tulad ng mga past charities natin. Mejo delicate ito kase we will be dealing with people with strict compliance sa kanilang beliefs. Ang tentative date nga pala ng charity event natin is on December 6, 2009 – Sunday. Yung mga details ng charity natin would be outlined sa mga next meetings natin.

After ng meeting namin kanina, we decided to visit tita mildred sa kanilang ukay-ukay store nila sa antipolo to give to her yung padala ni ate Sophia. Habang nandun, ayun, bili galore ang mga noinois ng mga tinda ni tita,hahaha. . . nice to see you ulit tita, you’re looking good po,hehe. . .

So, ayun yung mga napagmeetingan kanina. Kung may mga nakalimutan ako paki supply nalang nung mga dumalo at kung meron corrections. ..

Tropang Noinois are glad that you became part of the group.

Panicked as what we have always been, we rode the first taxi we saw to Mactan International Airport. Exhausted and living with all the anxieties you can imagine of going to places we only know by name. We finally boarded the plane holding each other’s hands. I do not not know where Bauko is exactly located, but there is only one thing I know, Bauko has become and will always become part of the history, and we are going there. Forget about Cebu and say hello to Bauko.

But me and my girl are not alone, we have couple of friends who were introduced by technology and bound with the same purpose- to celebrate a debut to manhood of a personality who have inspired not just thousand’s but millions of people all over the world. But we are not going there to party. We are going there to inspire others and be inspired as well.

The person we are all referring to is Buknoy, popularly known as Marky Cielo in the local showbiz industry. Mark Angelo Cadaweng Cielo (May 12, 1988 – December 7, 2008), better known as Marky Cielo, was a Filipino actor, dancer, and the first known Igorot descent in Philippine showbiz. He is notable for his win in the reality talent competition StarStruck (March 12,2006). During his two-year career, he was able to star in several television shows and in one film, notably Fantastikids (2006), Asian Treasures (2007), Boys Nxt Door (2007), Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan (2007-2008), Sine Novela: Kaputol ng Isang Awit (2008), and his final performance, LaLola (2008). He also voiced the character Ichigo Kurosaki in the anime Bleach (2007).

Despite the inconvenience of the almost 12 hour land trip from Metro Manila to Bauko, Mt. Province, you can never see any signs of complains from all of us but rather the excitement and eagerness, and not to mention the shared laughters inside the bus where people from all walks of life, decided to take one journey– To make history.  ..

We are just silent while we are listening to their stories along the way, but I believe that silence came from the fact that we are the only one from the South. Hundreds of kilometers away from where most of them are living. But on the other hand, we do not noticed any rejection of any form but the warm welcome from a friend, much more, a family. Perhaps that is the only thing warm noticeable as the cold breathe of the wind penetrated our skin yet still enjoying the roller coaster ride of the zig zag rode.

By then I come to know that the name of the group is TN or Tropang Noinoi, which is derived off course from the nick name of their  ..opps. our idol, Marky (Buknoy).  So funny as it seems but my girl do not gave me a short orientation as to what will happen. But that does not stop us from helping the team the best that we can which even drives us more to know the people behind making this episode a reality and to become part of that people as well.

It is freezing cold. The thirteen degree Celcius is way much lower than the usual 30+ degrees temperature in cebu and Manila. (This is one of the things I hate and at the same time, misses  in Bauko). But despite this fact, the warm camaraderie of friendship and geniune brotherhood overcomes the coldness of the night.

The night of the vigil. As we eavesdrop the stories of Tita Mildred (Bok’s loving mother)  we all realize  how blessed she always is and will always become for having such a very good son like Bok (hehe. nakiki-”Bok” na rin ako). Throughout the entire duration of the vigil, there was never a point when questions of the reason of death was raised gutsily. It will never matter afterall. Never will it help and never will it make Bok’s alive again, But the aspiration and the fulfillment of this episode will make Bok’s memory alive in the heart of the many. The night ended with the siging of “Birthday Song” to Bok’s 21th birtday when midnight of May 12 strikes, and the rest is yet to come.

Marky’s legacy was alive once more. Hundred of  elementary students have been given with school supplies placed in an exclusively designed Noinois back pack (hope I could have one for souveneir) . And not only that, the school where these kids are studying is bestowed with colorful and educational books as solicited in Ateneo. Moreover, a computer set was also handed to the said school. Every smile of these children brings hope to their family and to our motherland. It is not the material things that matter afterall but it is the inspiration we have rooted in the heart and mind of these kids. Perhaps only few of the children and even the family of these children were able to understand fully the reason behind the sharing but lucky are they to be part of the one of the momorable episode  of Bok’s life. He’s debut.

I then realize that the celebrant need not to be present on his birthday for it to become as memorable and as overwhelming as it should be. What is more important is the continued legacy you have left to the heart of the many who have believed in you and then sharing that legacy to the other. What is more  important is you becoming a blessing to other  people as much as they have become a blessing in your part.

We believe that the death of Bok is not the end but rather the start of his  second book, a sequel of his endowment, and it will be the TN who will be the authors of this new book. The new book of Bok. A new episode where only thing that drives is the geniuine heart to help for the sake of an idol.. We do believe that the TN will continue to inspire other people as how Marky kindle and make all Igorot, all Manileño, and all Filipinos all over the world as proud as we can always be.
